UNDERSTANDING THE NEW MDS 3.0 QUALITY MEASURES Percent of Short-Stay Residents with Pressure Ulcers. The MDS 3.0 QM User’s Manual Version 10 was posted April 28, 2016 which includes new Quality Measures. The MDS 3.0 QM User’s Manual v10.0 contains detailed specifications for the MDS 3.0 quality measures. Announcement: Enhanced MDS 3.0 Quality Measure Reports Available The reports and report package in the MDS 3.0 QM Reports category are now available for your use.
The MDS 3.0 Facility Level Quality Measure Report has been updated to include the following new measures:
- Percent of Residents Whose Ability to Move Independently Worsened (Long Stay)
- Displayed as Move Indep Worse (L) on the reports
- Percent of Residents Who Used Antianxiety or Hypnotic Medication (Long Stay)
- Displayed as Antianxiety/Hypnotic % (L) on the reports
- Percent of Residents Who Made Improvements in Function (Short Stay)
- Displayed as Improvement in Function (S) on the reports
- For this measure, a single asterisk (*) indicates a Percentile of 25 or less (higher Percentile values are better for this measure)
The MDS 3.0 Monthly Comparison and MDS 3.0 Resident Level Quality Measure reports have been enhanced to display the three new quality measures listed below:
- Percent of Residents Whose Ability to Move Independently Worsened (Long Stay)
- Displayed as Move Indep Worse (L) on the reports
- Percent of Residents Who Used Antianxiety or Hypnotic Medication (Long Stay)
- Displayed as Antianxiety/Hypnotic % (L) on the reports
- Percent of Residents Who Made Improvements in Function (Short Stay)
- Displayed as Improvement in Function (S) on the reports
Quality Measures In Healthcare
Data for the new measures have been retroactively calculated to June 3, 2015. If a report date range includes dates prior to June 3, 2015, an “I” (Incomplete) will display indicating data are not available for all days selected.
Section 11 – MDS 3.0 Quality Measure (QM) Reports of the CASPER Reporting User’s Guide has been updated to include the new measure information. The updated CASPER Reporting User’s Guide is available in the following locations:
